Unimersiv have been gaining quite a name for itself in the VR/AR market as being an organization dedicated to creating educational experiences that can be enjoyed through a VR/AR headset. But really, what actually is Unimersiv? Let's find out! Games Educate Kids - What is Unimersiv?

Virtual Reality is all the rage now, and is supposed to be transitioning from a niche market to a big market by 2020. We already have the VR support in many phones and TVs and a handful of apps, and the likes of Samsung and Oculus Rift are putting everything on their technical domain to develop the Virtual Reality concept and hardware support as much as possible. VR doesn’t only have a big market in entertainment apps and hardware, it is showing potential in supporting virtual classrooms as well.

We already know how Augmented Reality is changing the domain of classrooms and integrating technology in a beautiful way. In comes VR to further enhance a classroom experience. Now students can fully interact with their subjects, since it has been shown to affect learning. In a study, it has been concluded that students learn more from watching and even more from doing a particular task, and this is where Unimersiv comes into play - Unimersiv is the future when it comes to VR classrooms.

What Does Unimersiv Bring to the Table?

Did you ever wish you could go on an educational tour within the Great Pyramid of Giza? Ever think about how the International Space Station works? What about reliving key happenings in history? Unimersiv can give you all these opportunities of exploration and simulated learning without you even having to get out of your house.

Unimersiv takes digital learning to the next level by combining studies with simulation and virtual reality. Baptiste Greve, Unimersiv’s CEO and founder has big plans for the project and he wants it the Unimersive application to work with Google’s VR project, the DayDream. Since this is still a new project, it has topics like human anatomy, space station, Stonehenge, Roman Colosseum and dinosaurs in its domain, however, the CEO adds that they will be adding as many as 14 new experiences by the end of this year.

Unimersiv aims to make a classroom experience memorable by using Virtual Reality. What comes as a boring normal day in a classroom, turns into an interactive, fun and intelligent way of learning and retaining the learned concepts, and Unimersiv enables classrooms to have all of that and more.

Experiential education earlier involved field trips from the school, and although field trips are nothing but fun, Unimersiv brings even the most distant places in front of your eyes... which is admittedly something not many schools can afford to do. Field trips have served as methods of learning in the past, and taking a student through various experiences only increases the chances of him retaining the information for a longer amount of time.

In fact, Unimersiv decides to give it more than just a tour, it aims to give the student a perfect VR experience of that place, along with various things to learn, which may not be completely learned in a field trip.

How Exactly Does Unimersiv Do It?

A team of very talented professionals are working to create the best experiences for students. VR headsets can give students a 360-degree freedom, and also the freedom to explore the environment of the session. For example, the Roman Collosseum experience that was released in September 2015, took the students through the prime age of Roman empire when the Colosseum was still new and held gladiator matches. Students were able to experience all of these through the eyes of Virtual Reality and were able to learn more than a normal field trip day or through textbooks, because the people at Unimersiv decided to make the session as in-depth as possible. Students could actually feel the atmosphere of the Roman empire at its height. Unimersiv is ever changing and ever growing, and gives the developers a chance to bridge the gap between the technology and the audience.

Unimersiv: What is in the future?

Virtual Reality is thought to be the doorway using which many new classroom technologies would find their way into the common lives of people. Although some people think that it may take as much as 5 to 10 years, the reality is quite different, and the technology is moving at a much faster rate than we would like to presume. Unimersiv’s earlier versions included going to its home page for experiencing their VR sessions, however, Unimersiv is targeting the base audience and making the process simpler.

Unimersiv has since launched an app, available for free from the Oculus store, to make its content easily accessible. For now, the experiences are only a handful, but in the future developers are promising an entire set of experiences for the student to view and learn.

Virtual Reality in classrooms is the prime example of how technology can make our lives easier, and Unimersiv is taking full benefits of the powers endowed to it by VR to change the way of studies, through VR experiences!
