Crayonpang GoGo: Adding AR into Coloring Books

With all the attention Pokemon Go has brought to augmented reality games, we now take a look at a less dangerous but equally fun version of a new AR game, Crayonpang GoGo.
The term “Augmented reality” isn’t exactly something that many people knew about prior to the release of the insanely popular augmented reality game, Pokemon Go. This is actually one of the good things that come from the game – it shines a super bright spotlight on this new form of gaming while generating a substantial amount of interest in this type of games.
Among the few AR games currently on the market, we’ve stumbled upon a pretty amazing AR game, Crayonpang GoGo, during our excursion to the recently concluded ChinaJoy 2016 Expo. Developed by Aiara, Crayonpang GoGo is generally a card game that starts your kids off with a drawing that can be easily printed from the website: www.crayonpang.net.
Your child will then need to color the drawing using whichever coloring tools and colors they like. Once done, you simply need to run the Crayonpang GoGo mobile application on your phone and let your child use the app to scan the image they have colored. Can you imagine their delight as they see their very own work of art comes to life in glorious 3D?
Each drawing has its very own animations and sound effects. Some, like the little girl drawing, will dance around the paper while others, like the dinosaur drawing, may even spit out jets of virtual fire, which are honestly pretty impressive. Due to the varying animations to discover and view, your child will definitely be interested to color them all, just so they could see all the animations there is in the game.
Not to mention, every completed drawing that was run through the app will be saved into the app as a collectible card. Depending on the colors your child has used in his/her painting, the stats on the cards that they get will vary. These stats are important as your child will be able to use the creatures they have collected to battle other players.
The best part though is that the Crayonpang GoGo also has a hologram mode. All you need to do is to buy the magic box and assemble it as shown in the video above, place the phone at the top and bump 2 of the boxes together. Watch as the creatures your child has colored turn into amazing holograms that will start battling each other once they are formed!
Crayonpang GoGo is not only a revolutionary game in its own right; it is also very well-developed so that it’s not only perfect for kids to play but even for adults who are interested in AR gaming. Note: Crayonpang GoGo is also available in the iOS AppStore, but unfortunately, the only language currently available is Korean.
